Altitude supports two important programs that promote the fitness and safety for our community’s youth:

  • Kids Gymnastics &

  • Swimming & Water Safety

Kids Gymnastics

  • Kid’s Gymnastics is designed to teach the basics of gymnastics and help children to progressively develop strength, flexibility, coordination, and stability with an emphasis on joy of movement.

Classes are offered for both preschool age children and Kinder/1st Grade.

See the Front Desk for the rest of the year’s schedules..

  • This is a 6 week progressive program, held weekly for 45 minutes that allows your child to be creative and have fun in a structured intentional environment.

  • Please have your child prepared and ready for class on time with appropriate attire (no jeans, buttons, or zippers). We need our students to be able to move freely without damage to the equipment, themselves, or others.

Swimming & Water Safety

  • Altitude’s Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program teaches people of all ages and varying abilities to swim and be safe in, on, and around water. Swimming readiness and swim instruction courses within this program include Parent and Child Aquatics, Preschool Aquatics, and Learn to Swim classes. A safety briefing is given at the beginning of each lesson, and children progress through a sequence of skills at their own pace. Songs, Rhymes, Games and Competition enhance the learning process, and enjoyment, as well as proficiency is emphasized.

Swimming Lessons are held throughout the year and run twice a week for 4 weeks.

Swimmers are divided into groups by ability:

**Parent / Child (6 mo-3yr) One adult must be in the pool per child.

**Level 1 (Ages 4-5) Does not put face in the water or glide

**Level 2 (Ages 5-7) Puts face in the water, some forward movement

**Level 3 (Ages 7-9) Floats on front or back, swims with some arm / leg movement

**Levels 4 -6 (Ages 10-12) Floats on front or back one length of the pool

Ages are approximate and groups may be adjusted after the first class meeting.

Please stop by Altitude Community Fitness to register your child(ren) and fill out the paperwork.

It is important to continue through the Learn-to-Swim Program until all levels are passed to make sure your child(ren) is/are safe in the water.

Cost for lessons is $120 for the first child in a family, and $30 for each additional child in the family.

Scholarships are available, ask at the Front Desk. The High Mountain Hay Fever Children’s Health Fund Grant helps subsidize our costs and assists with scholarships.

  • This class in intended for children ages 6 months to 3 years old, accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. The child will learn to be comfortable in the water and the parent will learn how to safely assist their child while in the water.

  • Children from 7 on up increase their knowledge of swim strokes and water safety. There are 6 levels taught- Level 1-3 are for 7-11 year olds, and Levels 4-6 are for children 12 and older.
