Dear friends, members, and neighbors, As the Executive director of such a wonderful community “gem,” it is important to me to express my gratitude to all of our facility members and the neighbors in our community that help us continue to provide such a wonderful community asset in our tiny little town. I have never been to such a small town that can boast of having such assets as a community fitness center, a theater, and library. Those facilities are such a rarity in a rural area such as ours. I will endeavor to continue to provide the services we now offer, and it is my hope and vision to offer more: more space, more classes, more programs for our youth. As a fairly large non-profit in such a small community, we have our share of struggles with rising expenses, but we will always find a way through fundraising, grants, donations, and the participation of dedicated members. Recently, a few neighbors and members have expressed concern over the possibility of the facility closing the pool or our doors, all together. I understand that questions began subsequent to a published letter and local chatter. Please be assured that our team (myself, the staff, and the Custer 2020 board) are fully committed to continue providing access to the pool, classes, and fitness equipment. We are intent on continuing to serve the community and grow our programs and expand our space when the opportunity presents itself. The community’s fitness center is important to so many people, including myself. Once again, I can’t thank the members enough for their kind support, financially and the kind words of encouragement and advice when I need it. I thank the community members for their past support and future support because I know that many of you are as proud as I am to say we have a community fitness center, and that you will continue to support it! If you have never been in, stop by to see what we’re all about. If you want to become involved, we welcome new members, volunteers, or just visitors taking a class or dropping in to use the weight room. If you’d like to help financially, we welcome new members of all ages and we welcome sponsorships and donations. We are still here, and will remain, and your help in our endeavors is always welcome. Sincerely, Jules Sapp Executive Director, Altitude Community Fitness.
